On 2nd March, 1916, 1st Cornwall Light Infantry of 95 Brigade, 5th Division arrived at Arras and took over the sector from the River Scarpe to Roclincourt. On 21st March, 1st Cornwall Light Infantry moved into the front line trenches. The History of the Regiment does not provide much information regarding this time in the front line but it does mention that on 25th March, 1916, an artillery duel took place and it is most likely that this resulted in the death of Edwin Bray.
